Scarlett Johansson is red hot on the February 2009 cover of Harper’s Bazaar.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, the 24-year-old actress was photographed by Alexi Lubomirski in a strapless red gown by Oscar de la Renta. (According to Just Jared This is the newsstand cover – on the subscriber cover, she’s standing in front of a big heart wearing Roberto Cavalli.)

LA Times published an article with Scarlett a few days back. She talks about her struggle to keep her personal life private and Cosmopolitian’s fabrication, in addition to her many projects. Read it here in our press archive.

Talking with her brings to mind a line about another great-looking movie dame, Jessica Rabbit; Scarlett Johansson isn’t bad, she’s just drawn that way. Like Mrs. Rabbit, her ripe looks and a voice like scorched velvet have a strange effect on those around her.

It’s a sad state of affairs when a young actress is notable for not behaving like an idiot, but it must be said that for all her paparazzi appeal, she doesn’t lure it with wildly inappropriate behavior.

“I don’t know when that became a standard for young people.” She adds that she and her friends go out to dine and dance like anyone else, “but we’re all responsible young adults, within reason I suppose, and that should be the norm. I think that is the norm, really, but maybe it’s not just interesting.

Penélope Cruz is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 Critics Choice Awards. The film is also up for Best Comedy.

In the recent past, the awards ceremony was taped for later viewing, but in 2009 viewers can watch the live presentation airing on Thursday evening, January 8, 2009 on VH1 from the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

The Spirit made a poor debut at #9. The film earned $6.5 million over the weekend and $10.4 million for the four days.

Topping the list was 20th Century Fox’s Marley & Me, which earned an estimated $37 million. The dramedy, based on John Grogan’s best-seller, set a new Christmas Day record with $14.7 million on Thursday, surpassing 2001’s Ali ($10.2 million) - a record also broken by fellow newcomers The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ($12 million) and Bedtime Stories ($10.5 million).

I actually went out and saw the film myself and personally was disappointed. I can see why Scarlett would want to do the film as it does have some very cool female lead characters and visual style but still it just wasn’t enough. She did have had some wicked cool costumes, lines and a memorable entrance so worthy of Johansson fans to see, but all in all the movie didn’t live up to my own expectations. During her 12/17/08 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Scarlett Johansson blamed her cold on The Spirit co-star Samuel L. Jackson, saying she caught it from him. She believed that for this reason her cold had some “value.” During her appearance on The Tonight Show, she blew her nose into a tissue provided by Jay Leno. All proceeds of this sale benefited the USA Harvest, the charity of Scarlett Johansson’s choice.

The online auction, which took place for a week sold for a winning bid of US $5,300.00.
